National Bike to School Day

National Bike to School Day takes place every year near the beginning of May. In 2017, National Bike to School Day is scheduled for May 10th. If your school cannot celebrate the event on the official day, do not worry! May is Bike Month, so any event held in May counts as a National Bike to School Day event. Just make sure you register the event at www.walkbiketoschool.org when registration opens in 2017.

There are many ways to participate in National Bike to School Day. Your school may plan an event where students:

  • Bike TO school from their homes

  • Bike TO school from a meet-up location, such as a grocery store, park or church parking lot

  • Or bike AT school as part of a bicycle safety skills activity such as a bicycle rodeo

The event might also include bicycle trains, assemblies, and other bicycle-focused activities, Be creative, and don’t hesitate to contact your School Outreach Coordinator for ideas and support.
