South Carolina has achieved the highest participation rate in the nation for International Walk to School Day for the past 4 years (2012 – present) and set a statewide record in 2015! Let’s build on that success in 2016!
Schools all over the world participate in International Walk to School Day, which typically occurs on the first Wednesday of the first full week in October. International Walk to School Day 2016 will take place on Wednesday, October 5th.
Register your event here! Sign up for our newsletter to stay informed on all things related to International Walk to School Day, including when event registration will be open. If your school and community can not celebrate the event on the official day, don’t worry! October is Walk to School Month, so any event held in October counts as an International Walk to School Day event. With that in mind, mark your calendar and start planning with these great resources.
In 2015, South Carolina finished among the top 3 states in the United States for the number of International Walk to School Day events, trailing only California and Florida, which have much larger populations. South Carolina also set a new all-time state International Walk to School Day participation record, with 343 events registered (previous record was 336 events in 2014) and 1 in every 3 elementary and middle schools participating.
